Weak bottom end on B20B?
I've been thinking about going with a B20B block and either a B16 or B18C head, but I was told that I'd be likely to spin a rod bearing. Something about how the B20B shouldn't be taken past 7,000rpms. I rode in a B18 head with B20B block at the track on Sunday and it was insane, I didn't find out much about the guy's car though. Thanks for the help...
Not sure, but you do need to find out what the crankshaft is balanced to (IE RPM). At least I would before I started on a big project. I'm sure you'll make some nice power with a B16 tranny, B20 block, and B18B head/IM. Is the bore on teh B20 larger than the B18 bore or is it just more stroke?
every stock B20 VTEC I have seen taken regularly past 7000 rpm has either broken a rod or cracked a cyl. wall. The piston speed is too fast for stock internals. It's a great combo if you keep it under 7000 rpm, stock, or get it sleved and upgrade the rods and pistons.
