Default Track pads, fluid, etc....

I have owned my R for a little over a year now and have been to one track event and the next one is coming up soon. The brake fluid hasn't been changed recently so I'm deciding to do it. I need a recommendation on brake fluid. Keep in mind this is a daily driven car, I was thinking Motul RBF600 but dont know where to order it from. Also, I want to order new pads that dont dust too much not that big of a deal and also pads that won't destroy my rotors. Would anyone recomment Hawk HP's? Thanks for all the help.

I am personally fond of RBF600. You can order it from http://www.kingmotorsports.com...rakes or http://www.speedwaremotorsport...d.asp

As far as low dust pads, I can't help ya.. My pads dust like crazy, but I get excellent braking.

Froogle search Motul, or buy from these dudes:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1086451
http://www.cyclemall.net/ (search for RBF)
STILL on sale for $7.95

I thought it was too good to be true so I bought 10 bottles. They shipped it pretty quick, friendly on the phone.

Good luck with your non-existant dust-free rotor friendly track pads

But you can find some recommendations here. Perhaps Cobalt GT Sports are what the doctor ordered. People seem to love them as a double-duty pad. Buy them from Andie at http://www.cobaltfriction.com

ATE SuperBlue for fluid and Cobalt GT-Sport pads and you will be thrilled with the performance.
You can order both from http://www.cobaltfriction.com. I believe they give a h-t discount but I am not sure.

Any track worthy pad is going to dust a fair amount (in my experience). Just clean your wheels good as soon as you can after the event and youll be fine.

I have the Hawk HPS on my dailydriven Civic, they suck. THe HP+ are pretty good though.

These dudes are selling for $15 a bottle, which is a pretty decent price, but check out above link. $7.95.

Cobalt Spec VR's front GT-Sport rear, RBF600 fluid and Autozone rotors, cheap but wonderful when you go back the next day after a track day, get new rotors and see their faces because they've never seen how fu**ked up a rotor could get!

That's really not good advice, VRs for the street can't get to temp and since he is new to the track he also can't get heat...

You can see the boiling temperatures of various brake fluids here.

I think Motul RBF 600 is a great fluid. Not all that expensive, and great protection against boiling. I use it.

Cobalt carries it, but Chris's place has a better price. Great find, Chris! But how are you going to use 10 bottles? Remember, you don't want to let the stuff sit around for years...

If dust and rotor wear are your biggest concerns, then I would recommend using the stock pads. However, if you want a bit better bite and more resistance to heat on the track, I recommend the GT Sport pads from Cobalt. Great all-around pad, great for the street, great for the track.

Spec VR's in the front and GT-sports in the rear. I've seen plenty of people drive on the street like this and it isn't that difficult to get heat in the pads.

I wouldn't recommend it for street use (although it's fine for the track). The Spec VR isn't effective below 200 F (the GT Sport is 75 F). And what about squealing?

If it's too loud, you're too old!!! Oh, wait a minute, that works for music...

Anyhow, I survive with a similar setup. It is very squealy on the street. Braking performance is fine cold, however, although not peak.

It's got lots of other uses, too. You can use it as a massage oil when your joints get stiff. Plus it makes a great high-energy sports drink.

But seriously, I flush my brakes pretty often, and bleed before every event (sometimes in the middle of events, too). I also don't let a half-open bottle sit around very long if at all possible. I probably go through more than I NEED to, but I don't think it's all that outrageous.
