Default rod bearing specification for h23

a friend of mine has a h23 with 240xxx miles on the motor and he spun a rod bearing.. he wants to know what size bearings to get or specification.. since the motor is alittle old..

There are codes on the pulley side of the #1 rod journal and on the bottom of the block. You need to match the rod/main journal codes on the crank with the codes stamped on the block to get the correct bearings (identified by color) for your application. Be sure to at least plastiguage (dial bore guages are a better way to measure) to ensure your clearances are with in spec.

thank you......thats a big help...if they arent within spec....would i need to upsize...how would i know about what size to go?

That really all depends on how much was turned off the crank? Was it a main or rod bearing?

im getting ready to change my oil now...im gonna lok for particles and **** in there....then i will go from there...

i find it hard to believe its bearings beacause it only makes the noise at 2,000-4,000, and every bearing i heard b4 that was shot knocked from idle, and this isnt even a knocking...
