Default Time for a new bike

Well about 6 months ago, i bought a 1990 Yamaha FZR600 for $100 in pretty good shape which i just tore apart and started an R6 tail/YZF600 tank/front cowl conversion ... but i'm tired it and just want to finish it up and sell it and turn a nice profit ($600 into it total, including the bike and new parts).

Now the big decision, what kind of bike?!?

I'm mainly looking for a 600, just not sure what and i'm looking for an 2001+, hopefully in the pricerange through 2003 bikes, if that makes any sense.

To find out what i really want, i'll really just have to go sit on bikes and yes i just answered my question .. but soooo many bikes out there are soooo sexy.

I know i dont want a gixxer ... i love the look of the 600rr, i like the F4i, and some of the kawis, but i really like the R6.

So honestly i do know what kind of response i'm looking for cause they're all good choices, sexy as ever, and faster then i'll ever need .. but ya! It's gonna be a tough decision

LoL, I remember when you first got the yammi you were whoring out all the pics of it and what it will look like with all the conversions you wanted to do. Sad to see it go unfinished

I love my 636. I was considering a 600RR, R6, and the ZX6R. I got a helluva deal on my bike, it was the first one I looked at.

HAHA .. ya i know. I like the bike, it just has a few problems such as .. (takes deep breath) a screw from the fender liner came out which made one side of it drag on the tire which led to that meltng and spraying molten rubber everyhwere which then pulled down a voltage box or some weird elextronic thing which started melting which led a box a fuses dragging on the tire which led to fuses being pulled out which led to the rear brake resivoir somehow coming undone and melted it in half on the tire which ultimately led to the tire blowing out and somehow a ground from the battery came undone and wouldn't start ... and in the midst of all this, in the middle of the cruise, the seat wouldn't come off so i couldn't fix any of it.

Bunches of fun But no, i do like the bike and i love how it will eventually turn out ... i'm just being realllly lazy.

I have a 2000 blue R6 with 7700 miles or so. It's got new Metzler M1 tires, Micron high mount, and Piaa lights! I am in Seattle, and Jon Ng who is also on this board can vouch for my bike.

The bike is in prestine mechanical condition, but does have small scratches on the fairings because the 50 year old who owned it before droped it in a parking lot. Come and take a look if you are interested.

very understandable though, but that's why a large portion of my riding is late at night when there isn't a car in sight. but even then it isn't all THAT much safer... i've NARROWLY missed being t-boned a couple times by cars blowing through redlights at 60mph thinking there's no other cars on the road.

i didn't think of that sort of thing up until now but interesting you mention it; last time i was out, some highschool kid blew thru a intersection in his jeep at 60+. total red light too..

Ya .. i'm selling it. It's in pieces right now for the most part, as the new tank, tail, etc etc etc are going on to it .. which i dont think i'm gonna finish it. If someone is interested, let me know .. if not, the owner of http://www.crpturbo.com is probly gonna trade me a couple turbo manifolds for it.

as for a bike ... i'm thinking an 03 CBR600rr .. that or an 01+ R6. I've always loved the R6, but just soo many people have it (yes, i'm sure there is a reason for that, cause it's a kick *** bike) and i love the short agressive look of the CBR .. any comments on either of these two bikes?

seems to me that 600rr's are few and far between, and seem more expensive then most other bikes in its class. but damn, they are sexy ... gotta have one!

Where in NY are you? My only complaint about the 600RR is it is slightly uncomfortable for commuting long distances. Im picking up a corbin seat pretty soon so well see how that goes.

They do run a little more money. But you should be able to find '03s for between 5-6500 so not TOO too bad. Ashish is selling his and hes KINDA close to you...

Out of all the 2003 600s i've ridden them all more than once.

I liked the Yami the best by far. I felt most comfortable on it. It felt the lightest between my legs, and was completely flickable. After the Yami was the Honda, then the Suzuki, then the Kawi.

havn't a hard time finding one around me for a good price ... my next dilema ... yellow or black?! Black is soooo sleek and sexy .. but the yellow is just hot. My leathers (black/blue) would go ok with black .. but yellow is just plain hot ...

goin to check out a black 03 today ... 7000 miles, stock, perfect body except 1 small scratch supposedly unnoticable for $6300 obo and he said he'd take $6k.

I was looking in the local cycle trader magazine and damn, i found a busa for cheaper, an RC51 for cheaper, etc .. and i was like hmmm damn. but ya, still want the CBR.

$6k for an 03...not too bad. Good luck with it. That is one sweet bike, and you'll have as much fun with it (if not more) than a RC51 or a busa. R6 would be sweet, too. Can't go wrong either way.

well look at it today ... looked awesome. Just a few small scratches in one spot on the tail, rear tires were a little worn, and where the tail stickers meet the tail there was white right around the edges .. i think it was just from wax though.

on a shitty note .. i went to the bank to get a loan, and i got turned down. i'm 19 with some, but not much credit. I make more then enough to qualify for the loan and could pay it off in no time, but they're looking at my credit. My parents wont cosign cause they did my car and dont want to again, especially on a bike .. so ya, kinda stuck. My brother might, but if not i'll have to wait 3 months to pay cash

My only complaints .. well not necisarily complaints, are the seat is very hard, like your sitting on a piece of wood .. which everybody knows. the other isn't bad, the positiong is just way different then my FZR, which would take some time to get used to, as well as how the windscreen is positiiong and you gotta tuck in their to make it of any use.

On a sweet note ... my roomates brother's best friend is ... Jake Holden. He competes up against the Bostrom's, Mladin, Duhamel, etc riding for Suzuki ... so hopefully he'll be able to get me and my roommate into the track for cheap/free and get a few good lessons from a pro. So ya, i'm excited and hopefully i get my bike

The corbin seat runs 150-200 depending on shop and hookups. The windscreen is basically worthless unless your tucking. This is because the bike is a track bike not meant for the high way. You can get a high one like Immortal has but they look goofy

Good luck with the search/loan hope all works out well

well .. i found a way to do it, if my parents (hah) will let me. I have alot of money for school, which i'm not goin back till fall quarter, so hopefully they'll let me use that which will be paid back my september .. so we'll see! Looks like i may have a good chance now. I really want to get into tracking it, once my skills are good enough. I was planning on taking a class at the track, but with a connection to Jake Holden, i'll see what can come about that. How does one get into racing, more then just track days if that makes sense. Thanks for all the replies guys
