I have a '99 civic DX w/ probably about 110,000mi on it. it runs wonderfully 90% of the time, but, for the 4th time now while on the interstate i have completely lost engine power, intermittently. it loses power and slows down when i hit the gas, if i don't press the gas it just coasts, and if i take it out of gear for a second and let the rpms drop to idle, then it works fine again. i can rev it back up and everything and have engine power. what the hell would cause this? it's bizarre.

I was thinking MAP sensor or fuel pump but I have no CEL's!

Please advise, I don't know what to do!

 

i have a similair problem, but it doesnt completely lose power, if i get on it on the freeway in 3rd gear, then shift to 4th, during fourth (full throttle) it will gain speed, but i can feel my car kinda missing a cylinder or something, because it will be like "VROOOOOOoooOOOOOooooOOOOOm" if that makes any sense, it kinda bogs down during the small "o"s but power comes back on the big "O"s. all in all, im losing top end from the intermitantly bogdowns, i thought it was the fuel pump because im using my 1.5L sohc fuel pump, but have a 1.8L dohc setup (gsr). but it still shouldnt do it
