Is this accurate information on the JDM front end?

B/C I'll agree on the price from Hmotors, but lining everything up is a bolt on affair. Fenders are same as USDM except for sidermarkers. The only real difference is hte hood, the headlights and bumper. And all three are direct replacements. You have the option ot use the "radiator support." But if you decide to use the JDM one then there is absolutely no cutting or welding anywhere. It's just the middle "T" section that is replaced which i believe is held on with no more than 5 bolts (if i remember correctly, but i might be off, but not by much). So all in all, w/o painting which is optional, you're looking at $1000 ($1100 max).</TD></TR></TABLE><TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by jdmek910 »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">listen bro... im not hear to argue with u... what i meant to say is TOTAL price including the price of front end from h-motors was to be between 2500 and 3000... and if you think ANYTHING is DIRECT bolt on with a 15 year old car whose frame is KNOWN to twist ... YOU MY FRIEND ARE THE ONE WHOSE NUTS.... ask any crx owner these questions and you will get the same answer... i have even seen people on honda tech take their stock front ends to be realigned because of never getting that "perfect from the factory fit" on a 15 year old car... and the jdm front radiator support includes the headlight baffleds and is a major structural peice of the subframe... and thats what is welded on the car... not the t brace for the hood latch cockfiend... why the hell would u weld that... if you are looking to argue we can do so in another thread...so obviously you either dont own a cr-x and have no clue what your talking about or you own a crx and it looks like ****</TD></TR></TABLE>

Ok..........It's annoying when people won't listen to you and want to argue when all you're trying to point out some inaccuracies. Since this guy wanted to call me names and insult me I figured I'd take his advice and take this to another thread.
NOW........my tech question is. What is he talking about???? Maybe I'm wrong??

3k is nuts. Do all the work yourself and it will cost as much as the parts do. I don't know where that guy was getting his cost estimate. Maybe from a bodyshop?
EDIT: Forgot about paint so add some to the 1000 base price but still it shouldn't be 3k

as far as i know, you don't need the radiator support for the jdm front end. You can realign the stock usdm one to work.
I can believe some body work and aligning plus paint, but if you're paying $1,500 for that you need to switch body shops. A quality paint job with body work for an entire car is around $3,000 on average, about a grand for a quality paint job at Maaco (don't flame because i can show you my uncles truck that was painted there and it nicer than 1/2 the cars i've seen painted in big name body shops).

Shipping is $300 to the East Coast. So roughly $900, then i guess tax. So all in all, around $1000 (and actually i know someone who paid $400 for shipping, but password has it listed at $300)

ooops, misread your quote, didnt see you say INCLUDING shipping, so that sounds about right. The prices i was quoted for the front end to be painted and blended into doors, was under 1000. A few acquaintances who told me as low as 300-400

professionally done the right way from a good body shop 2500- 3000 argue all u want bro ... stop hating and accept it ... now accept that you cant afford it and accept that your car will always look like ****... im sick of argueing about this topic.. and even if that price is a high estimate ... im glad i paid that much because my ef8 front end lines up perfect and looks like it rolled off the assembly line in japan like that... so what are u argueing with me about again... the price of the actually front end conversion or the selling price of my car.... you are all caught up in yourself... yes my car is for sale... and i will get nothing less than 5000 for it for the sheer reason that fagets like you will start a thread SHOWING how cheap and stupid a ******* ricer like yourself can be ... if you knew anything about anything you would have given me a bump told me my ride was nice and kept your mouth shut ...but now u just exposed yourself as a cheap redneck who only wishes your car could look like mine... you wouldnt know the first thing about building a car... the time, the perfection, and the $ that goes into building a car that no one else can imitate... all you know is your local junkyard and a burger king paycheck for 90 bucks a week... my advice to you is to keep saving your money.. maybe one day pep boys will sell that jdm front end you want soo bad

you can use the usdm headlight buckets, and the rad support just needs to be proped up with some washers so the hood can latch, theres an artice on ef-honda.com all about it.
as far as price, it depends on so many factors. what type of paint, are they painting the whole car, how many clear coats, quality fo the work itself, will they remove all the trim or just tape it off.
too many factors, but al you need is the hood, headlights and front bumper, the rest is nice if you want to correct fenders and whatnot, but it isnt mandatory.

yes various factors comes into play. My old GSR costed me 7,500 for my paint job. from inside out. shaved moldings, attenna, emblems. they stripped everything to bare, prepped and painted, and put it all back together. took like a long while. they didn't cut corners.
but in all honesty. why go to a shop to put an SiR front end? it's just to easy. and you can get the body lines straight on your own. to paint it i can understand. but to put it on. I just don't see it.

because it won't be perfect!!!!111
But yeah, if you have enough time and have an idea of what it should look like, you can do it as good as any body man and not have to pay the labor for it.

lol. it will be perfect if you do it on your own. unless you are a lazy-****. and that term "you get what you paid for" isn't always true. sometimes body shops charge more than expected cause they know they can get away with it. I used to do body work at a shop. $100 here, $200 there... all of them add up, and 99.6% of the time people don't catch it. I quit after i found out their scam.
your usdm front end is the old shape 16-16i front end in england and the jdm front is the same as the newer uk vtec, up to 93
to do a vtec front swap on a 16-16i properly you need to remove the front panel by removing the spot welds and replacing it with a vtec front panel.
it is possible to do it using the original front panel as alot of you allready know, but it is not perfect,

i have the EF8 front end on my car. payed $950 through hmotors. i paid my body shop $2200 for a color change and ALL dents removed from the ENTIRE car.
so to me 3K for just a front end alignment/fitment of a JDM front end is high. and everything is a bolt on affair. you will get some slight fitment issues, but it's not because of a "twisted" car or parts, but because of a JDM vs USDM cars themselves.
I've noticed a gap with my corner lights (I'm also using USDM fenders and USDM corners, so that MAY be affecting this) and my headlights. and it took me a while to get the bumper to alight right. but it's not as hard as it's being made out to sound
the 2 main things i wanted the body shop to do (and they did):
1. Align the hood.
2. align the fenders.
- if those are good, the rest is a piece of cake. I COULD have aligned them myself, but since they were taking care of the dents, why not have them do it while they are at it.
I installed and aligned the headlights and bumper cover on my own (well with my brother cause its you need 2 people) on a saturday and we got it lined up great. if you just take your time, and go slow, you can get a professional result.
tell me this doesn't look professional:

(that's my gf's RSX-S BTW, not mine)

You can use your stock radiator support. All you have to do is mod the hood latch.
It looks a lot cleaner than looking at washers on your radiator support. You might get lucky and find an ef7 radiator support which is a bolt on affair.
Also 3k is a lot. I spent $200 on my front end conversion.

What????
You don't know a thing about me. I was pointing out a few facts and you got mad b/c you know I'm pointing out facts to other potential buyers. You don't think I can just sit back and let you try to spew out falsities to the fellow potential EF'rs. All you have is an Si with a JDM front end. I hope you get what you're looking for, but probably not from anyone on here. But I guess we'll find out.
So, yea I'll stay cheap and love the car I drive while paying my house payments and living off of my $90,000 annual household income........
idiot.

jdmek910, you are a retard, and don't know WTF you're talking about. The fact that you would gladly pay 3 grand out of your *** is a text book example of overhyping a scene and taking advantage of morons like you.

I agree, and for that price it had better have perfect sheet metal too....I paid $1,800 for a half cut with no sheet metal but had only 64K kilometers.
