95 ex power rack in a 92 dx
Well for all who would like the quicker steering ratio's this is a simple fix, I picked up a 95 ex coupe power rack and pack the power steering holes with grease, got the rack for only 150$, taking the rack off is pretty simple, 4 bolts, now putting it back on is a little harder, you need to drilled out the ex bracket to fit the holes and the bigger rack...driving is awsome turning is a little harder, sitting at a stop sign and making a full turn, the car won't turn prefecty but it will work for now..just an update on all who want to do this...any questions its fresh in my mind....TIA
well i've been messing around trying to get the steering straight and for some reason i can't meaing i have only half turn to the right and its locked then for the left i have one full turn then half turn then lock, is there a special way to get the rack to be straight, i've tried playing wit the joint that connects to the steering colum..is my rack off?
i did that but it won't turn pass half turn when turning right something is not right, i think the rack is off...how do i get the tie rods to know when there lined up..did i install the rack wrong?
well....if you did that, I will guess that the part that threads (visable threads) into the tie rod are showing about the same amount of threads on each side. That same part (with the 14 mm flat) also threads into the rack. The problem is that those threads aren't visable. They are inside the rubber boot.
Anyway, try to get that stuff even, then make sure the wheels are straight & the steering wheel is straight. If that doesn't work, I will need to break out my Helms.

...yeah, but it should self-center when it's moving, with the steering wheel in whatever position it happens to end up in, right?
The forces resulting from caster should balance where they are equal, and the rack should at that point be centered. If it is NOT, then spinning the steering shaft (or re-centering the wheel on the splines) won't make any difference.
Is the new rack the same length - joint-to-joint - as the old one? Is it bolted in so that its center point is in the same location?

i am pretty sure i have seen many people on here put a 95 power rack in a 92 dx it needed to be modify cause its a little bigger but turning wise, something is not right...i might just throw my other one back in and see what happens...TIA
