Default LMA

would a bad lma cause a car to like sputter at like 1200 rpm? Cause I might get a civic with a b16 but he says the lma is messed up and it sputters between 1200 and 1600 rpm anything after it runs perfect. So i just want to know if its the lma thats causing that.

thanks

All the LMA's do is hold the mid rocker arm from falling down when not in vtec, shouldnt have anything to do with how the car idles.

The car idles fine it only sputters at like 1200-1500 if u rev it soft like ur pulling off but once it passes 2k it runs fine and pull hard. what are the most possible causes? also what else should i check out about the car?

the lma's are under the valve cover. they look like round circles with a hole in the middle, they are about little over an inch long.

You would have to remove the valve cover, and using your pinky, or a screw driver, push down on the backside of it. If its not smooth going down, or doesnt return smoothly, the LMA is bad and Helms manual recommends replacing it!

I always check the jumper before I buy any hondas. The stores cel's even if the problem has been fixed usually unless it has been reset. I know when i started my car after installing my turbo setup that the cel came on for 02 sensor malfunction, then after i hooked it up the cel went away, jumped it 3 days later, and it gave me a code for my 02 sensor, but with no light.

sounds like it obviously has a bad sensor to be throwing a code.
tel him you want to check the codes.after seeing what it is,either have him fix the problem,or deduct the proper amount from the selling price for you to fix it.
i'd say it's probably not a big deal.
the LMAs will not throw a code or cause the problem you have.
if he won't cooperate, tell him to get f%cked.simple as that.
