Default Electric oil pressure gauge goin haywire

On my miata when running high HP (350+whp) and also now on my buddies 400whp GTP, we both see the oil pressure gauge fluctuate WILDY in high boost. It will jump from the highest reading, to zero, and anywhere in between.

His is an autometer electrical one, mine is an OEM mazda one. I've read over on miataforum that hooking up a mechanical gauge will show that the pressure is not actually changing so I havent been too worried. The motor still runs flawlessly after many runs where the gauge is doing that, so I have to believe that its ok still.

Is this a phenomenon found on hondas with electrical oil pressure gauges?
