Ride like a lexus
Ok this one got shot down in the teg forum...
My friend and I put some dense carpet foam underneath his carpet (a teg) and glued it to every panel, this gave his ride a more gentle sounding ride quite nice actually. My question is I want to take it a bit further on a 88-91 civic hatch, but dont know what i can do. I think i might spray some deadning under the inner fender well to kill tire and road noise. if you have any suggestion please post.

you can Dynamat the heck out of everything to quiet it down, I've also heard of people stripping their cars down and spraying in truck bed liner. keep in mind that all of this adds weight to the car, and a heavier car is a slower car
what up you an oregon boy.....Ya thats why i might have to do key locations on the spraying, the foam only ads like 5 lbs so im trying to keep it a decent amount thanks though.
yeh dynamat everything with the super if u dont care about weight that is the stuff will be real heavy i th ewhole car but the lex has the quietest cabin in the world man
I looked into this awhile back and talked to several shops about dynamat. They all said it's great for keeping in sounds and keeping rattles down for stereo poo poo but for sounds deadening it doesn't do that good. I bought a few sheets and tried it and I couldn't tell the difference. poo poos pretty heavy too. Afterward I just took spray foam and sprayed the back fenders behind the plastic pieces in the car. This helped quite a bit and didn't add hardly any weight. When I get my new interrior pieces I plan on foaming the back correctly with the pieces outso I can get everywhere and I'm gonna put plastic down so the foam doesn't stick to everything. There is a company in Canada that makes sound deadening material for cars it's a 3 layer compound made for 3 different kinds of sounds you know like noise, vibration and something else. I emailed them but could never get a reply I think they had kits for the entire car for like $200. When I pull my engine out I also plan on making a rubber, insulation and that silver tape kinda mold for the firewall in the engine compartment. Like what you see in some cars for the hood to keep temps down. I'm hoping this keeps out a good bit of engine noise.

I have a stripped Si, and I have to admit you get used to the noise from the road....Why would you not want to hear you engine?
Have any of you guys try that B-Quiet stuff? Is it the same as dynamat?

way too expensive version of floor matitng you get at a hardware store for when you put down a new floor in a kitchen. exact same stuff, even a bit thicker.
thanks,

Im quite impressed with the results in my car(the one Redracinghart helped with). We'er not completley done, so far just the floor, and door panels are done and its a TON quieter!!! I plan on putting a whole bunch more in the trunk(2 or 3 layers), a bunch on the rear fenders, rear panels, and roof if I can. It doesn't weigh anything, and it only cost me $10.00 so far. The only down side is my car is smells like a new house now, the smell of the carpet foam. I think Im going to lift my carpet back up and spray some Fabrize under there to take the smell away. Anyway Im impressed with the resluts!
