Isn't it true that you can tell the year of a dual cam honda motor, by looking at the top of the block, and the number is right there, upsidedown, like right above the exhaust manifold? If i'm wrong......how do you tell the exact year of a motor? It was written in Sport Compact Car years ago.....and i have completely forgotten.

 

yep....thats right. There are little circles with numbers in them like this 9|4 or 9|9. This indicates the manufacturing year.

 

but how do you know which circle to look at......i guesss jusy use common sense, right?.....Thanks dude. Like the motor cant have been built in'87 ya know?....Thanks again!

 

The stamp on the head is the date and year it was made and the extra number is the number made that day. For example if the extra # was 8, it was the 8th head manufactured that day.
