New Car Stereo Installation
Got some JL W3's for my car (approx. 3) and a Precision Power PC 2150 amp. I want to build a custom box that has the speakers facing the inside of the car. So that I can pull the seat down and see them. Does anybody have any good websites/books or just a how to forum so that I can learn how to do this. I want them to be ported, carpeted, looking real professional. Any help would be good.
Depending on you car's rear back seat. If they fold down, it is pretty easy to find a prefab box that create the effect you're looking for. It is the cheapest way and they already come carpeted and with connectors. You need to look for a front slant type box where you can install the subs on the slant side and place the box facing forward. If you have 12's or 15's it is very probable that the box will cover the area behind the back seat frame. Also make sure that the box has the right cubic inches to be ported with your components. Good luck in your proyect!
Boxes GREATLY affect the performance of your sub.
If your gonna do it, it's not as easy as 'making a box', check out Loudspeaker Design on Amazon , it's like the bible for building sub boxes, you can get a better link to the book from http://www.crutchfield.com as well (to the book site, and others)

theres nothing wrong with a prefab box, because it already has all the calculations for the volume of air inside it with a sub loaded into it, different subs need different amounts of air.
All I'm saying is that, if the user that started the thread was going to make their own, check out the books i recommended, because its very important to make the air calculations and not just put something together that's hollow and fits your trunk perfectly.
