Default h23 in a 94 LX

my friend has a 93 prelude with an h23 and he is getting a jdm h22 installed in a few weeks and he is wanting me to buy his h23 and put it into my accord. the engine has 130,000 miles on it but just a few months ago he had the top end rebuilt. he said hed sale me the engine for 400 and it cost 600 for a place called race works to do the engine swap. what i was wanting to know was, this car is my dailey driver, i dont care about it being fast at all, but this engine may be in better shape than the f22 in my car now. i was wondering if anyone esle has done this swap and if so, was it reliable? what kind of power gains should i notice, im not expecting too much. and what about gas mileage, how bad will that go down? thanks.

**** that if it's $1000 to do it. you wont even notice much of a power increase.

boost your F22B2 and you'll notice something

How many miles do you have on your F22?

the h23 is a dual over head cam 2.3 liter with out vtec. it is a very good motor and would be excelent with your trans(manual or auto?) or if you are getting the h23 trans (stick or auto?) that would be good also. if you do want to get some good power out of it i would put on a turbo. it would be very reliable with a small turbo on low boost on the stock internals( you would want to redo the rings if you ar going to put boost on it). i would say yes buy the motor you will still get good gas milage. what is the redline on that motor and what ecu is it (i.e. P13, P72, P28)?

also if you go in the hybrid forum you can probally get alot of info on that motor.

Well, the H23 has 160hp and 148ft-lbs of torque compared to the F22B2's 130hp and 139ft-lbs of torque. I would say that its a decent gain for $1000. Plus if he includes the tranny which is a shorter ratio, then its a even better deal.

well the car it is coming out of is an automatic, so neither of us want the transmission. im not concerned AT ALL with making the accord fast. its my dailey driver as my performance car or choice is my rx7. i wouldnt ever consider turbo charging the f22 or h23. the f22 in my car has around 190,000 miles but it had some internal work done about 20,000 miles ago(bearings timing belt, and im not sure what else)
