Do you have a 5th or 4th gen? Because when I did mine, I didn't see that evaporator, but as for everything else, it all comes out!

I think if you remove the evaporator case you will have no heat either.

yes remove it all. The evaporator and the heater core are not the same, so you will still have heat. The evaporator is in your dash near your glove box, you can take out the evaporator and leave the plastic shell that holds it.

You might also want to get some metal mesh from LOWE'S or somewhere to place in front of your radiator. Without the A/C condensor in front of your radiator a flying rock will now cause coolant leak (bad) rather than lose of A/C (not so bad). I just zip tied some in my car.

i think its illeagl to discharge the stuff from AC into the atomosphere. Contains O3 killing ****. May want to take it to a shop just to let them drain it dry then yank everything. Or if you dont care then yank it. ( or it maybe on older type freon **** i dunno) ^_^

it should be r134a or something (not freon) but yeah, that stuff's pretty harsh on the ozone. but if your a/c radiator accidentally got punctured and it all leaked out.... just don't do it in your garage lol. if it was freon the shops have to keep track of every mL of it, and pay out the *** for any lost.

if you remove the a/c.. which i am also looking at doing too.. do u have to change the belt or does the a/c run on a single belt for itself like the power steering unit does?? which i also removed.. lol.

you have to get a new belt... the AC uses the same belt as the alternator... you kinda need that one... Just geta 36.5" belt... Usually labelled v5r365 or something similar... the first 5 could be a 6 depending upong ribs on your belt...

f22/h23 uses 5..h22 uses 6... But most ppl who swapped in h22 use 5 because the accessories use 5 and just swap the crnak pulley out.

so if you take out A/C and power steering....all you have to do is run the new belt from the crank pulley to the alternator?

question is for a 5th gen.

LOL. I've removed everything in the system except for the evaporator. To remove those hardlines near the firewall I just "creatively yanked". Good times. So the shell for the evaporator separates? Do you just remove it's contents and then re-install it? Just curious. Maybe I'll complete the extraction.

how do u get to the evaporator?? its in the dash?? that sounds like a pain in the ***... is it necessary to do that? I guess if it's easy to do i wouldnt mind doing it just to get rid of it.

remove the glove box and you can get to it. It sits inside a plastic part (*see the pic from the original poster). You can just take it out of the plastic part and put it all back together.

hope you dont live any where remotly hot... i live in Phoenix arizona and even right now i can barely stand not having AC.... think about it before you do it lol. I have most of my parts but i didnt take it out the owner before me did. I think i might just take it in to a shop to have it put back in cuz it needs to be recharged anyways

i live in SoCal... lol.. its hot as hell. the shop chopped the lines when they took out the engine.. who the fu*k knows why. i might actually just take the belt off and get a new belt that doesnt go to the compressor. that way.. if it does get insanely hot i can hook it up.. fix the lines.. and get it charged.

Wrong!
you only have to take out the glove box whitch is like 5 or 7 screws.

[QUOTE=577HondaPrelude]The evaporator and the heater core are not the same, so you will still have heat. [QUOTE]

Wrong!
The evaporator is needed for the heat. The heat goes through the evaporator and then into the vents
