well, the protege5 motor (fs-de) in general... is weaksauce.

it makes about 90-100whp in stock form, rated at 130 hp from the factory.

the mazdaspeed protege makes about 150 whp in stock form, which has a turbo.

the fs-de doenst take much boost to blow up, so to put it blunt, its a weak *** engine.

what eli is making, is about all that it can really take in stock form (safely), with interals and engine work, it can take over 300 and prolly make around 400.

there is a company called hi-boost out of california, who has a protege5 running 12's.

Then that kind of explains it....slap some internals in there and crank up the boost . I have seen a couple semi-built d series on here make 300whp; it has potential .

Nice....my buddy has a boosted Escort (has the Mazda BP-05 motor in it) and I enjoy riding in it....it is pretty quick.

My buddie is boostin his p5 as well 260whp at 13psi, didnt take too long to figure out that his stock internals cant take that kind of power, good thing we discoverd that before anything bad happen. That b!tch is FAASSSTT!! Ive never liked the p5, but its growin on me YIKES! lol Love the black/black look

id buy another one if i had money. i dunno if id boost it though, just cause the fs-de cant take much in stock form, but id without a doubt buy another one. its a fun car.
