I belive zygspeed answered this for me earlier, but I forgot

Is there/what is the fee for NON-drivers for the Expo? I plan on hitching a ride with one of the ITR-NC/Wetodddid gang...

The only fee will be if you want to be in attendance at the banquet on...? Monday night I think.

YD, who suggests everyone save their loose change for the Expo.

can passengers ride for free on the course? What if you send your money, but then can't go. Is there a refund?

Only if at least 40 cars pay.

If you are going just to watch, then it will cost you nothing. If you want to have dinner at the banquet, then the cost is $25 per person.

No, 'passengers' as you use the term, will not be allowed. This is for safety and insurance purposes. You *might* have the opportunity to ride with an instructor, but I wouldn't count on it. The only passengers that will be allowed will be the student, or the instructor.

We may have parade laps during the noon hour on both days where the speed is controlled, and there will be no passing allowed.

As far as the refund, this is what is stated on the registration form:
(PLEASE NOTE: A CHECK OR MONEY ORDER MUST ACCOMPANY THE APPLICATION. ONCE CONFIRMED
CANCELLATION REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN ONLY IF THE ENTRY IS FILLED)

This brings up another question, who are the instructors?

The only one that I know of for sure is Ken Sax a.k.a. nsxtcjr. I will probably help out the Nebraska guys and the KC guys. This is Phil's (with CGI Motorsports) responsibility.

CGI holds a dozen events a year at GingerMan. Their instructors are folks who have tons of track time at GingerMan and can show you the line, the tricks, etc. They're not all low-lifes like me.

For the past CGI events that I've been to, they allow group A students (advanced) to take passengers. Since this is the Expo, which is a special event, I don't know how it would be handled.

I also worry that we would not get enough instructors for the event as there are too many people going to Gingerman for the first time......

I am just a nobody, but why no passengers if advanced/intermediate students get signed off? This is just a question, not by any means criticism...

The best place to hit the "nawwwwws" is going into turn 11!

Anybody have a course lay out with the correct lines/apex's drawn on it? It would be nice to look/study it before going. Also since I've never done this before, do we walk the course first or just take a few slow laps?

That would be a *long* walk.

You will get a chance to do about 2 laps with the instructors to warm up your tires. Most likely the instructor will be driving your car to show you what's up. Then he'll pull off into the pit and you can hop in the driver's seat. This isn't mandatory, but I would recommend this for first timers on the course.

I don't need an instructor to learn the track, but I do want to ask Ken (or whoever instructor is available) to ride with me for a few laps. I want to get more ideas on how to take turn 2.

I sure would be glad to help out people who are first time on Gingerman to learn the track!

Look on the Expo page, or go to http://www.gingermanraceway.com

Actually, walking the course is a good idea. I have walked Gingerman, and it gives you a while new perspective. You have more time to think about how to approach the corner that you are at before you get to the next one.

No reason to worry. Just sign up for the event. Phil will round up the usual suspects... I mean, the usual instructors.

I am just a nobody, but why no passengers if advanced/intermediate students get signed off? This is just a question, not by any means criticism...
Because there's a tendency of students to show off to their friends, resulting in unsafe behavior.

Anybody have a course lay out with the correct lines/apex's drawn on it?
There's a good track map showing radii and such at http://www.gingermanraceway.com/specs.html

However, there is no one line all the way around the track; there are turns where you can try different things and see how they work for you.

since I've never done this before, do we walk the course first or just take a few slow laps?
What Phil sometimes does is send out small groups of cars in lead-follow formation, with an instructor in the lead car followed by 4-6 cars learning the line. Remember, you will also have an instructor in the car with you to help you learn the line, and you'll be driving in a run group with others who have never driven the track before.
