tachometer?

i installed a autometer yesterday...i got it used...so maybe it just could be broken...i used the instructions that i found on the website......the trouble is that is reads double what my dash tach does..any ideas?

Maybe it's set to think it's connected to a 2cyl motor?

maybe its hooked to the coil wrong, is it hooked to the negative side of the coil?
