I'm looking at buying a bike in the next month or so and wouldn't have any problem starting on a 250....but good lord they are hideous!!!
I don't know why, and no offense to the thread starter, bit is there anything you can do appearance wise to upgrade these puppies?
I know, I know...its all about getting out there and riding. I just can't see myself looking forward to a ride out on an ugly bike.
Congrats on the new bike though man, I hope to be posting a thread up here shortly about my new bike.

There are other small displacement bikes that look different. Honda Nightahwk 250, Honda Rebel 250, Buell Blast, Suzuki GS500e/GS500f. Granted, the Kawi is probably still the best bang for the buck based on what I've read, but the best looking bike IMO is the GS500f. They just came out last year so it will be more expensive but i think the look pretty cool.

I totally agree, seriously, if they invested a little more money on updating the look of the bike they would have one of the top selling bikes.

Congratulations on a first and welcome! It's good to see a hometown rider on here, too ... Franklin/Brentwood/Green Hills area here. Ride safe.

Congratulations! Excellent choice for a first bike.
I've been riding my SV for 3 years now, and I still lust after an ex250. They're just so ridculously fun to ride.

Another GIANT factor in not changing the style is that the secret to why these are so cheap is because they haven't changed a thing for 14 years.
Kawi is saving so much money on tooling, it's almost insane.
BTW, I think mine looks TONS better w/o the stickers.

much respect for thinking about whats good for you and not what just looks cool and goes fast. People always give a first time rider respect for not buying a bike out of there league. Happy riding
