I had a bad wreck back in June of '04. Crushed the front end to crap and back, so in an attempt to fix the front end I beat some(very few) of the dents out of the hood fenders. Been driving it like that for almost 11 months now. Now is the time to fix things...A guy at the collision repair shop told me I needed an upper radiator support core. Could you guys tell me if that is just a junkyard part that I can swap or is it welded to the frame, where as I have to go to the dealer to get one and have it welded on? Sorry for being long winded.

 

it all unbolts no welding, what year car do you have cause since your raditor support is smashed in asumming your fenders are toast along witht the hood and headlight id do a front end convo, if its your style

 

upper radiator support core is spot welded to the frame. just use a drill and drill out the spot weld and it will come off

 

the radiator support assembly is spot welded...aint a biggie. same accident w/ my freind...(Nissan) found entire support at junkyard....i swapped them and spot welded it in several hours

 

The car is a 1993 Honda Civic. And yeah the fenders are toast along with the front bumper, headlights, turn signals...basically everything on the front end. Speaking of which what do you guys think of a Stock replacement bumper with a CF spoon lip, and F1 fenders, and TYC one piece headlights?

 

get a spot weld drill bit(takes way less time) and take your old one off. If you want to be precise and have everything line up 100% get some frame specs. some c clamps and a tram guage or tape measure with milimeters. Measure the points so teh match up. You usualy pick a point on the rad support and on the a point on the unibody measure diagnoly on each side and should be with in 2mm. Clamp it down and weld. But your probably not gonna do that so just get it to where it looks close and weld it or if you dont have that Ive seen people use sheet metal screws instead of spot welding although I wouldnt do that.

You had suggested a front-end convo...is this one be up to the standards of the the honda-tech population? I've been eye-ing it for a while now but as the name goes, I'd like to have a little subtlety to the Civic. But the convo does sound like a good idea: Fenders, Hood, Front Bumper, and Headlights are included...decisions, decisions
