I'm going to miss my R
For those that don't know, I'm selling my turbocharged R. I had a buyer come take a look at the car today and they want to purchase it on monday. For those that have experience selling used cars, is there anything I should watch out for? My main concern is receiving a cashier's check that seems legit at first, then a few weeks later the bank will remove the funds from my account after realizing it is a fradulent check. I read about this from the rx7 forum. So any advice would greatly be appreciated. I'm thinking about going to the bank with him and witness the bank actually issue the cashier's check to ensure it's validity. Any other suggestions? I was also wondering if I have to tell them the car won't pass smog? They never asked and I was wondering can they ask for a refund once they hand over the check and I hand over the pink slip once the check clears? Thanks in advance.
*I'm going to miss my R and hopefully I'll be able to purchase a championship white one or a black R.

photocopy his drivers license along with the cashiers check and right before depositing it at your bank, call up the bank that issued the cashiers check to make sure its legit.

Excellent advice.
Excellent advice.
The check should have a watermark on it. Many are heat sensative and will dissapear if you hold your thumb on it for a couple seconds.
Easiest is to call the bank and read them the routing and check numbers along the bottom. They will be able to tell you how much it is issued for. Use that to confirm.

Just have him give you cash. You won't have to worry about anything being fake, and you'll feel like a baller for the couple minutes that it's in your pocket before you get to the bank
thanks for the idea..yea this person is also getting a loan from the credit union. Did you have to provide a document that's within 60 days old that says your car passed smog?
also keep an eye on it until then. I've read of a few people that had thier cars looked at when they're for sale just to have them stolen the next night if not the same night.
