Where have all the clear tails gone?
I remember when I in high school that clear tails are the in thing. They are practically extinct here in so cal. I just saw an accord with them and rememberd it. Altezzas have taken over huh?
I hate to say this, but I actually liked clear taillights....i thought they kinda kept the car looking ONLY 1 or 2 colors at the most. Altezzas bring in another color and then it get painful to look at. But clears on black or white cars looked clean i thought.
yeah fo reals...it was hella hard for me to find a set of clear tails for my hatch. They said clear tails are discontinured now. i wanted to paint them half red/ half clear. didnt want to get the ones already made cause they have a red border around the clear. i wanted the clear to go all the way across. stupid alteazzas...

i spoke to a manufacturer of the clear tail light assemblies and found out that unfortunately (for those who like them) you won't LEGALLY see all clear tail lights in the us any more. they have been deemed illegal by the government and have been taken off the market. the altezza's are still allowed, but not the all clears. so if anyone has them on and you are using them for on-road driving, you may want to reconsider having them.

I think they're extinct for a reason. A lot of companies were getting complaints about how the clear tails are a danger, etc. Because knowing some ricers, they would put some colored bulbs in for the turn signals, reverse light, brake lights, etc. However, I didn't think they were as gay as those damn altezzas.
I heard a story where a guy with clears got rear ended and the truck that hit him said he couldn't tell if his brake light were on because he had clears. They go to court and the guy who got rear ended got the ticket and of course his '89 Civic was totaled and the truck had a scratch on it. The law cracked down on clears a little while back.
