Default exhaust hangers

My exhaust moves and shakes quite a bit. I've read that upgrading to poly urethane hangers is too stiff and will break the welds, etc... If I just buy new OEM rubber hangers, will it relieve the exhaust jitters I have now?

That's because of the engine vibrations, nothing you can really do about it. Is it hurting performance?, making loud noise?, or hanging too low? The hangers are like any other rubber piece, in time it will deteriorate will age, road debris, climate, etc.... BTW it wouldn't hurt to replace them with another new stock piece.

It doesn't affect performance. I know it won't cure it completely, but will it at least help with the shaking muffler problem?

It won't hurt to replace the rubber pieces if they are quite old. The movement and shaking of your muffler is likely due to the rubber pieces rotating on the hangars though (likely the rubber around the hangars connected to the car, not the muffler itself). If you can find a mild adhesive or something to lightly seize the rubber onto the hangar at that point, the rubber pieces will still flex but they won't "swing" back and forth around the hangar as much. Just my 2 cents... I notice this whenever I change muffler, since I clean out off the rubber elements and the hangars as well, so everything's pretty loose for a while before it gets covered in dirt lol.

what kind of engine set up you got? if you have headers, the way they connect to the exhaust it pulls on it more then a downpipe flex is for turbo. as long as it isnt hurting anything, dont worry about it.
