have done the search, but none had the exact sympoms as mine.
I took my car out this morning after fixing the IACV, and it began to overheat after about 20 min of driving. I came home and checked the radiator coolant and it was low, so I topped it off, let it run, and repeated. I noticed that my upper radiator hose gets hot, but my lower feels like theres nothing in it. It isn't even luke warm. Could this be a faulty thermostat also?
The car runs fine, idles fine, just overheats. Also my Walbro 255 pump wines extremely loud. Is this normal, I have never used an aftermarket pump. The whining is irritating, and loudest by the rr quarter panel.

 

Did you put a new water pump on whaen you did the swap?

 

Sounds like a stuck thermostat to me..Replace it and go from there.

 

I just gotr back in. My car idled for the past hour. Before starting, I took out the bleeder screw and it was bone dry, so I figured there had to not be enough coolant. Even though I topped the radiator off 3 different times. I opened the rad. cap again, and its low so I add 3 more Taco Bell cups (it was convenient and easy to mix with) with the screw out. I then let the car run while I installed some hedlights in a guys Accord. I checked on mine frequently and it never got hot during idle. After I finished the install I turned my car off. The rad. fluid was a little low. I then checked the valve and now fluid was flowing out like it should when its loose and the lower radiator hose was also warm. So I think the problem is fixed (I have not driven it yet, but everything appears OK.

Well, new day, new problems. The car won't start. It just spins fast, so I think the starter is gone on it. May have been from the coolant getting on it yesturday. This is starting to get a bit irritating

 

keep at it man...when I did my B16 swap, mine overheated and it just turned out to be an air bubble (thats all it takes), the distributor went within a month, the main relay went (wouldn't start), and now I just found out that for whatever reason I installed Ford axles in it (don't ask me how the hell they fit, same spline pattern, 1/2" longer than teg ones!!). that's the price you pay though, it should all work itself out eventually.

 

I'm sure I 'll end up buying a distributor before its all saidd and done. I haven't put 10 miles on the motor. I just can't understand how it went from perfect idle yesturday to no idle today. And when I do make it crank (by patting the gas) it smells like old funk and smokes like a lawnmower, white smoke.

Is there any coolant in you oil? Does the oil look like chocolate milk?
Is there any oil in your coolant?

I had a very similar problem of dissappearing coolant....turned out to be my water pump. Check to see if there is any puddles of coolant forming on the timing belt cover by where the water pump is....thats how i could tell my pump was toast....well that and the fact that it was squealing real bad.
Also, is your rad fan turning on?
Don't get discouraged....just a few bugs that need to be worked out.

 

Yeah, fan cuts on at normal opperating temp.

I pulled the dipstick, I have synthetic in and it still looked pure. I am really thinking it is a fuel problem, like something is clogged. Or timing, even though I don't understand how timing would jump on its own.

I am going to tow the car to our shop tonite and do some work on it, but I am going to pull the plugs as soon as I get off and check them for water or coolant or oil.

Pulled the plugs they were dry and lookeg good. It has got to be a bad fuel problem
