Default kosei k-1 on ITR

Looking to mount some 205/50/15 Toyo Proxes RA-1s on 15x7 Kosei K-1 wheels for track events.

Any fender rubbing issues with an entirely stock suspension?

Thanks

No, my buddy has the same exact setup, and no rubbing issues. His setup includes skunk2 coilover sleeves and tokico illuminas...so its more dropped than stock, wouldnt see why stock would rub if his setup didnt. hope that helps

There are quite a few people who run that setup with no rubbing issues.

Bah! I have the Kosei K-1 16x7.5's on my Rs and there's no issues. You'll be good with the smaller size.

If they're the older ones like mine, they were available in +45. The newer ones are only +38. Both will fit fine, no issues with those size tires.

I only have a minor rub at full lock with the 225/45's on the +43 7" Te37's

I've got the rims mounted with no tires on the car right now and it looks pretty damn close to the knuckle and rear trailing arm. There's less than 1 inch to the knuckle and less than a 1/2 inch the trailing arm from the rim.

I seriously doubt a 225/45R-16 with ~8.9" section width and a 16x7.5" Kosei K1 with +43mm offset would work without a spacer.

Give me a couple weeks and I'll let you know. Putting 225/45/16's up front and 215/45/16's on the rear, all mounted on 16x8's, 50mm offset. I have my fingers crossed it all works right without any rubbing. Waiting for the tires to arrive now.

I did similar testing to IN VTEC without tires and the wheels are within 3/16" up front to the knucke increasing to around 3/8" clearance on the inside (as the knuckle angles away from the wheel/tire) beyond the ~9.0" total wheel width. Seems to me the 8.9" section width front tire will fit okay if they don't tear out the fender liner because of being too wide on the outside.

Rears are too snug and require at least 3-5mm spacer to stay off the trailing arm and UCA. Testing will reveal what spacer width is actually required. Also, rear fenders absolutely need rolled to make this fit.

Kosei K1's are the greatest wheels I have owned a set for the last 4 years. Not that anyone cares.

We were talking +38's, right? The ones that are still available?

Update: Installed my 225/45/16's last night on 16x8 (50mm offset). Fit like a glove up front, could probably go with more tire in my current setup -- suprised me too!

I have made some modifications, however, so I'll list them: rolled fender tab for additional clearance, skunk2 camber kit (~ 1 deg additional neg camber), raised ride height slightly to accomodate taller tire.

Rears are a different story. Only put on 215/45/16's on the same wheels. Offset requires a spacer to clear the rear trailing arm. I installed an 8mm spacer, will test a 5mm spacer this weekend (under race conditions) to see if there's rubbing. I'm running just less than 1 degree negative camber in the rear and with the fenders rolled I had clearance issues on the rear bumper where it attaches to the quarter panel. It required a little trimming of the bumper and appears to clear okay now.

Observations. With a 215/45/16 you don't need an 8inch wheel. It looks a little stretched, at least with a Hankook RS2 Z212. 7.5 inch width would be fine. In comparison, the 225 looked great on an 8in wide wheel, perfectly square. With my setup, you can't add any more tire to the rear. If I were to run more negative camber, you could probably add 10mm of tire width, but for me it's maxxed out right now.
