I lost part of my injector, what is it and what does it do?

I lost part of my injector, what is it and what does it do?
In the moving of parts over time I lost one of the small tan insert things that go in the top of the injector. What does it do, looks like a small diaphram or screen filter maybe? I do not have acces to a salvage yard close to me, does anybody have one? Or will it run missing it? Help...
