"Spot the oil leak", or "Fire!!! Fire!!!"
During the second session of my first dry track day at 10 lbs boost I was playing with a heavily modded STI. After 7 or so laps I reeled him in and forced the pass. It was then that I noticed the brown spatters of moisture on my windshield. Assuming it was from the suby I kept on givin'r. Then I noticed the smoke, and it became clear that the oil on my window was definitely from my own car.
Yes, there was a *small* fire when I pulled into the pits, which went out by itself.
Spot the "leak" (I dare you):

Proof that the vents in my POS hood actually work. This is where the oil that was all over my windshield came from:

A sad, broken man:

Yes, the guy behind me is checking out my HOT *** (obviously).
Smart me had the valve cover and the pcv valve both venting to my "catch can" (water bottle). Bottle filled with oil, pressure from crankcase blew oil EVERYWHERE. Seriously looked like someone had poured a bottle of oil all over my engine. It's seriously still smoking 3 weeks later. Not the smartest setup to say the least.
Endyne catch can kit is in the works. Hopefully that can keep up with my blow-by.

I think if you hit it with brake cleaner, you can get a lot of that off..... $1.00 can at autozone = good ****. It even cleans up oil spill residue off your garage floor.
Whatever you guys,
That looks like a typical Turbo R motor to me.

-- Nice catch can
-- I don't see the oil leak, but I;m guessing the oil fitting on top of the turbo. Lucky that fire wasn't worse!!

Hehe ... reminds me of Expo 2 at gingerman when I forgot to put the oil cap back on after adding some (cap was left on valve cover), and then ended up using it as a turn-in obstacle in turn 5 after it fell out of the car after a few laps!
Luckily I'd overfilled and only lost about half a quart anyway since I came in early to check tire pressures, and noticed oil running down between my driver side headlights (mostly right hand turns).

valve cover gasket (front-left)?. possibly from 2 missing locknuts for spark plug cover?
the catch can setup i run is from pcv calve>catch can->top of IM.. valve cover fitting is just open.. i plan to make another fitting on the right for additional breathing.

If you are doing going with the Endyne kit... you can copy it for like 50bucks. I used a crome PS reservoir I found used (~36 new), block adapters that the endyn kit uses (6-8bucks each) and cut a hole into the PS lid and installed a breather filter (~5), then routed a line from the drain down under the car and put a ball valve on it so i could drain... the more i read... the less i wanted to put the oil back into the car.

what a mess. only did a few laps and came off though. PO'd i lost my oil cap, pretty jdm shininess

Thanks for fixing my pics, I suck at teh intarwebnet when I'm hammered.
I'm convinced the problem is that blow by from the extreem cylander pressures is forcing it's way by my rings and causing oil to be blasted out the pcv valve. We'll see if the endyne kit works, if not I guess it's time for the inevitable.
Here's a good resourse for breather/catch can systems: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1199935
It's geared towards turbo'd setups, but the info is interesting non the less.
Damn I need a coffee.

Yeah, looks familiar. A nice catch can setup is a good idea, but quit kidding yourself on that blowby.
Take a look at your #3 spark plug yet? [edit] ...and do a compression test?

BTW, I redid my PCV yesterday. Valve cover and PCV tee'd together, into the Moroso catch can. Top is vented to atmosphere. It vents a lot of smoke and steam on the dyno, kinda interesting to watch

I'm doing a compression test this week. Hopefully the #'s are ok, the engine still pulls nice and hard, and it doesn't smoke anymore than it used to on the street.
I'll keep you guys updated. Seems there is a similar pattern going on here among those of us that have ITR-T's and stock blocks.

I want to spot the oil
