tools


steps:
1. wash
2. wet sand (1000, 1500grit)
3. rubbing compound
4. 3m restorer
5.3m wax

what exactly do you use to sand? and what is wet sanding?

He stated in the original post that he used 1000 and 1500 grit sand paper. Wetsanding is sanding with water

Oxidation. Paint does it to on older cars.

Neglect can cause it as well.

And if you use a fine enough wet sand you can use a buffing or polishing compound to bring the clear back out.

I believe the after picture is a 1/2 and 1/2 pic the left side is done while the right side is not.

OR its a reflection from the clouds

would you guys know if a crack in the clear is fixable. its really a hair line size crack that can only be seen in certain angles, but its like maybe a foot long.

I have the same problem as you, the only solution i know is to sand it down and reclear it...sorry i havent heard of any other solutions

Take it to a body shop for a buff and polish... it'll melt the clearcoat a little and reharden it, crack should be gone.. cost you like maybe 30 bucks?
