Default gauges in dash of civic

anybody install their gauges in the dash of their civic/crx? i don't have a pic, but i was thinking of putting them in the side of the edge that sticks up from the tray part of the top of the dash and wraps around the front. i dunno if thats a good description, but hopefully someone know's what the hell i'm talking about. anybody do this, or even know what i'm talking about?

I wouldn't cut into that if I were you... the defroster vents run there and you'll tear some sh*t up.
