input needed on axle problem
I'm running a Del Sol Vtec setup in my eg8 and need some input on how to handle my axle problem.
I've got a passenger side axle that has a slightly leaky boot on the outboard end along with wobble sounds at varying speeds. It's clear that the axle needs either to be replaced or rebuilt. I've maybe put around fifteen hundred miles on the car with this problem.
Given the symptoms mentioned above; would it be a good idea to rebuild the OE axle? Could I get away with just replacing the outboard boot? I can't afford a new OE replacement and I'll only consider Auto Zone remans if I'm forced too. (I've read too many complaints about quality control).
Thoughts?

Get yourself a new boot and clamp from Honda. Pack it with axle/bearing grease and off you go. Unless you have the joint already shot and making noises and clicking, replacing the boot IS an option.
I was under the impression that the clamps provided in the boot kit require a special tool to correctly tighten them. Is this the case? Wha't s your experience been?
