I am curious how strong that is compared to other helmets? Is it just an overlay of carbon fiber on top of the normal helmet or is it just straight carbon fiber? Does anyone know if they are DOT approved. They are some badass looking helmets though!!

You do realize that motorcycle helmets are made of fiberglass right? So if made properly, why wouldn't carbon fiber be used alone? It's probably better in all aspects over fiberglass.

heres from their website..
its DOT but not Snell
SAFETY: The Vemar helmets are DOT and 22-05. If you're interested in our take on 22-05 please click HERE. To summarize, we feel the 22-05 standard is excellent, and gets our nod over SNELL for motorcycle applications

Yes, I know they are made out of fiberglass. It just weird thinking that carbon fiber is basically only protecting my head. I know it is the same with fiberglass, but doesn't seem right with just carbon fiber.
It is still a bad *** looking helmet.

Do you know what the fiber in carbon fiber means?

Aside from the fact that carbon fiber is light and strong, what is the big deal about the way it looks? A little carbon fiber here and there is nice as an accent on certain things like a carbon fiber front lip on a EG hatch or something to that nature. But IMO that helmet isn't making me look twice.
EDIT:by the way that helmet looks just like the KBC euro VR1 helmet which can be bought for around 200 bucks or even less. You can get a black one and it would look exactly like that unless you got up close. Snell and Dot approved too.

if it's the same one I saw during the Long Beach International Motorcycle expo, it's got a seam down the center.
AND, from what I heard, that seam FAILED during the Snell testing. This is why it is NOT SNELL approved.
I'll take a hand laid Arai any day.
