Short review of T1R SPL muffler
I just installed the T1R SPL street muffler last night. It is a really nice piece and the R feels more responsive but I don't care for the sound at all. So overall:
Quality/ fitment
Ricer sound
It will be taken off tomorrow.

It may not be the muffler...you could simply need a resonator somewhere else on the exhaust dood. I had the same problem, and a magnaflow resonator cleaned up the beez perfectly

you did get a T1R, they both sound amazing with the right setup. you can't just bolt any axle-back to the stock piping and think it's gonna sound decent!

What don't you like about the sound of the T1R SPL? I've had the T1R Power Exhaust System and now I'm running their Prototype 70mm catback, I like the sound of both of these systems. I've also installed it on S2K, RSX, EP3 Civics, I dont see what's so 'ricer' about the sound. It roars pretty nicely under WOT and is pretty quiet when driven normally imo.

I'll bring this back from the dead...
I think by ricer sound he means the buzzing you get once the VTEC system switches cam lobes. Any straight-through muffler will do this. I've got the T1R (non-SPL) and it definitely screams at high RPM.

Since it was brought back from the dead I will update it. I still have the exhaust on the car, I suppose I'm used to the noise now..

i don't know if you necessarily like the sound, but a resonated test-pipe probably will make things sound a lot better. it's up to you whether or not you want to get rid of a catalytic converter, but it's an option.

this may possibly help. there's a video too of what the resonanted test pipe did to a regular T1R.

I'm currently running JDM ITR header to a Dynatech high-flow cat to the T1R system, so I'm not worried about raspiness. The standard T1R system is VERY deep at low RPM, so around town it is kinda annoying. The silencer does help though.
I'm debating selling the muffler and getting the SPL muffler. AJ Racing told me it would fit my pipe and it is just a touch smaller inside the muffler. I'm willing to trade 1 or 2hp for improved driveability (damn my morning commute).

how loud is the new 70mm compared to the old 63mm? I'm planning to get my t1r power exhaust system soon and I was wondering how much louder would it be if I ran the T1R test-pipe and not the hi-flow cat?

Dang, first time i've heard this, and I never knew that canister's could ever sound so nice!
I thought they all sounded like the N1's, loud and too bloody obnoxious.

Fitment on the T1R catback was so-so. I was kinda pissed it didn't fit well considering what I paid. The flange on the end of the b-pipe rubs on the unitbody (very loud and annoying).
