I am going on a 3 day road trip with some local riders. The new thing with these guys is an intercom with FRS radio for bike to bike communication.

Does anyone know anything about this stuff? This new unit came out and seems to be popular and cheap...

I am picking one up tomorrow for $150 or so. I think the speakers are going to suck and not be very useful, so I am planning on splicing my trusty ER-6 earplug headphones into the wiring.

I picked up a pair of FRS two-way radios tonight from Frys for $65. they seem to work well enough. the intercom will allow me to use them in my helmet with a push-to-talk button on the left handlebar.

i will also attempt to hook up:

cellphone (will plug into intercom and my phone has auto answer mode)
radar detector
xm radio! woohoo

but i think using the two way radio, the radar detector, the xm radio, and the cellphone is going to be overload on my brain and i'll probly crash when a cop lasers me, my favorite song comes on, and my mom calls at the same time.

 

So its just like a chatterbox?
