sohc TURBo z6 or b16 with bolt ons??????
im debating if i should get a greddy kit for my z6 or should i just get a b16?....i can get a b16 installed n reffed for around 2500 or should i just save a lil bit of money n do the turbo z6????....anyone know how much power a greddy kit usually puts down on a z6 compared to a b16 with bolt ons like I/H/E?..thanx guys...
had a b16 with bolt ons, now i have a b16 with boost... when it had bolt ons i raced my friend with a turbo d and he got me by 2 cars after i jumped him 1 so i'd say go turbo d. besides boost is so much fun

My turbo d16y8 with greddy kit 5.5psi and stock exhaust, stock cat put down a shitty, 130 wheel hp/132 wheel torque. this is due to backpressure... but read on!
so on your d16z6 you will put down approx. 130whp/130wtq unless you get rid of the cat, you will then hit 150whp/130 wheel torque.
yet, my car still ran 0-60 in 6.8 seconds!! thats as fast as a RSX Type-S and Celica GT-S. i recently up the boost and now I'm gonna get rid of the catalytic converter soon like next week....
So make sure you get rid of the cat or upgrade the exhaust to reach maximum HP! You will haul ***!
Turbo D all the way... horsepower/torque numbers don't matter.. its the 1/4 mile and 0-60 that wins.
TurboD will smoke a stock B16, B18B, B18C1, and even a stock H22A prelude.
you just can't beat the fact that civics are lightweight and when you throw on 30-50% more torque... you're already shaving off more than 1.5-2 seconds off your 0-60.

people sleep to much on the D series motor, turbo that ****. I have a b16 but if I knew then what I know now I would have saved my money and went D series turbo. Now I'm going B series turbo.

It all depends on what you wanna do.....I had a turbo d16 mini me,fully built----But I want more.....So now I got a freshly swapped obd1 b16a in my crx.....Soon to be fully build and turbo.....but the z6 turbo will take a b16 easily
Kind of funny you ask which route to go. Of course if you're in the FI forum, 90% of the people will say turbo-D for sure. If you're in the "All Motor" forum, they're going to bash on boost and convince you otherwise.
My opinion is to go w/ boost of course. Much more faster than a B16, tons more fun than a B16, and 1/2 as cheap to replace the motor if anything should go wrong.

i think there is a semi bandwagon going on with boosted single cams ...i'm on it and would have it no other way...besides you are in the FI section asking wether you should boost or not haha
go D build it and kill some b-series with it. they are a really good sleeper especially when you pop the hood and showd em you just got kill by a d its a priceless moment
go Turbo D
it will be more fun to drive
a Turbo D will have more tq thru the powerband than a B series
and the tq is greater on the most used part of the power band
wich means u will have more fun by just driving it, than having to rev the pist out of it thru town

I also say turbo the D!
Yes..it will own most b-series with bolt-ons.
My bro had a 96 Civic CX with stock block/head D16Y7 with T3 turbo setup, fmic, 255lph fuel pump, 12:1 fmu and 2.5" piping set at 5psi and he smoked my buddy's 93 Civic CX with GSR block, B16A head, ITR camshafts.
