Weld Aluminum?

The only experience I really have is with Oxyacetalene welding, and I'm curious as to whether one can effectively weld Aluminum (no more than 1/8" thickness plate, most likely) with it. I know MIG/TIG would be better and probably faster, but I have more or less zero experience with either one of those.

I figure Al has a lower melting point than, say, mild steel, so it should work...or am I wrong? (probably)
