I have use the USB to Serial adapter with both the sony and toshiba computer.... It works out great! There is a couple of different selection that can be purchase at best buy or Fly's Electronics if there is one over where you at... Oh, and make sure the USB Port that is taken the serial adapter is assign for the job. It won't work if you just plug in the adapter without setting it up. Good luck!

We use the one from Radio Shack it work great. Just set it up in all the ports. This way you can just plug in and go. Software comes on a disk though, so you have to put it on CD if you don't have a disk drive to install it.

Tony, this is why I asked you yesterday because Ive heard of this happening. I have the same problem with Autronic. Once you find an adapter that works keep it handy and buy an extra one.

Yea, it's probably Minh... haha kidding kidding I just got a new one at Fry's the other day. It's a cheap $15 AirLink that I was extremely skepitcal about, but it ended up working. So far I've used it on my IBM laptop and friend's Toshiba with both Motec and FAST without any problems. I used to have a Keyspan that worked great when running an Emulator/Romulator for Hondata but it was always sketchy and sometimes had connections problems with other EMSs.

P.S. - Minh, you're still running M48 on your car, aren't you? I'm sure Tony knows but I haven't got to work with any of the Motec systems that run a parallel connection (I've seen it on Bergenholtz's car and Skunk's RSX so I figured it must be on the high end stuff! Yes/No Tony ). Straight serial is definately nice but hopefully you find an adapter that works so you can make use of your Sony.

My Dell Inpiron 1100 has no serial ports. I am using two Siig USB-to-serial adapters and they work well. I have a PCMCIA serial card and it does not work.
