space on the valves..z6?
i bought this z6 head off a guy for 50$ the thing is i need the ecu and vtec selonoid. it sat in his garage for a while..
when i was checking it out, i noticed where the retainers/springs were it looked healthy, because he left the valve cover on.

but when i flipped it over i noticed there was some rustage which i kinda expected

and im kinda new to this so dont flame, ive never done a swap at all, and i tried doing some searching but what i was looking for specifically i could not find so im asking.. what are the circles, are they my valves or what? upon closer look i saw that there was a space in them like you could see past them, is that bad?

those are the two outer chambers. like i said im still new to this, its the first swap im getting into. i also planned on getting a valve job done on it because it has around 160xxx miles on it so.. any and all help is appreciated guys thanks alot.

The cam is pushing those valves out...its 100% normal.
Take the cam out and then check them if you want to be sure the valves are good...

ok thanks alot, i was just checking because i was searching around and i noticed that alot of other peoples were sitting flush. im getting it rebuilt so all that stuff is getting replaced.. thanks again
to check if valves are bent:
Remove or rotate the cam so all the valves in a cylinder are closed.Install a spark plug and pour some water in the chamber. If it runs out the intake or exhaust port the valve may be bent.Or take it to an automotive machine shop and have them take a look.
