i have a 01 civic lx and you guys talk about b16s and d motors, what kind of motor do i have?

 

it comes with a d17a1 single over head cam non-vtec

 

How do you know that? Is there somewhere i can look for it?

 

Well for one it will be noted on the valve cover it is a V-Tec engine or not. Two you can look on the block right behind the radiator where it has the engine modle number shown below.

There are verious modle number for honda motors
