Default YS1 shift lever

I have a YS1 transmission and noticed before putting it in my car the shift lever went all the way to the top. Now that it's attached to my motor it won't go all the way up enough to attach the tranny cable. I put on a ACT xtreme pressure plate and a six puck clutch. Is this normal with this type of clutch and pressure plate? The car is a 90 Civic HX, do I need to use a different clutch cable? Thanks.

I had this same problem when i put that clutch in my DA. The little tention that you put on it is just the begining, when it feels like it bottoms out thats when you aactully start 2 depress the pressure plate. Take a pry bar and use that to lift up on the arm and it will go in. If that dosent give you enough play adjust the clutch cable all the way out and then readjust it

So I shouldn't worry about breaking the shift lever or anything else when I pull up on it?
