tranny lsd question
I sold a guy a ls tranny with a lsd diffrential, i got the tranny from a guy and never used it, I sold the tranny to a guy on here and he put it in his car and says it is not an lsd cause each wheel spins freely from eachother ( the diffrential is see through so I know it was a lsd.) any help on what he is talking about would gladly be appreciated
Thanks Shane
Thanks Shane
Each wheel can/will spin seperality...its not like your puttings a solid axle straight through...The qualife (sp?) i think stats it puts the most power to the wheel with the most traction...

is it an OEM LSD or aftermarket? the OEM's will allow both wheels to spin independently when there is no acceleration or load on them. the LSD only locks together when there is enough torque to make the gears lock. spinning them by hand will not generate that much torque.
Yeah, a spool will lock them up but ant sort of LSD will allow some relative motion there. (ie. "limited" slip, not no slip) It is usually a locking clutch setup that only takes effect when there is an abnormal amount of relative motion, but the normal spider gears do their job like always. In a Torque Biasing Diff it is a little different, there may be more drag than a standard LSD, but I think it is still pretty free unless its at speed. Tell him to do a burnout and if there's only one strip ehe can complain ;-)
