2005 600F4i VS 600RR
Hey guys, i just had a couple questions. THe first one is which one do yall prefer. My second is i am 6'3 and 270 pounds and just curious if i choose to get the f4i which im about 95 percent sure im getting...will the suspension bottom out before the seat hits the tire or would i have to lose hangling by stiffening up the suspension so it doesnt give as much. I like the f4i more than the RR for a couple reasons:
Nice soft seat
The handle bars on the f4i are higher so less leaning and less back pain
Softer suspension for the f4i so i wont feel every little bump in the road like the RR
THings i like about the RR:
Looks more sporty
More accesories
So i have pretty much made up my mind about the bike but i just wanna make sure that the suspension is ok for my size. This will be my first bike with not to much experience but i do know how to ride....so i dont want anything smaller than a 600...Thanks for all comments!

I love my RR. They did more to the RR than just looks. The suspension is COMPLETELY different than the f4i, as is the motor. If you want the more comfortable bike, the f4i is definately for you. But I love the twisties and wouldnt trade my RR for anything

I'd rather have an Arr Arr. Although I am 6'0 and 175 and my ZX6 is uncomfortable.
But since this is your first bike I suggest neither.
Get an F3 or F4. Remember you can always sell it later.

Well i have done a lot of searching on the RR the f4i the R6 the gsxR the zx 6r and 6rr....But i love the f4i. I like the look of it, and the feel of it on my ***, lol...damn soft seat!! I really just want to make sure that the suspension set up as it is stock is ok for my body weight....I dont want to hit a bump and then hit the tire with the seat then hit pavement...i like to live untill i can, lol...So i guess well see what everyone else has to say! Thanks

just bought a 03' 600rr on friday- 04-15-05 and i road the f4i prior to buying the rr just to see if the two were really that diff. for one the f4i has a way more comfy seat , ... but theres no seperation between the drivers and pass. seat ... if you care about looks ,
the rr is def. more ridgid however when riding the f4i i felt that it was more clumsy than the rr...
delivery of power , no comp. rr takes the cake
overall perf. .. i think the f4i is lacking to the rr but if comfort is what your looking for and it's a first bike i would say you'll have alot of fun on the f4i but it will only be a matter of time before you're wishing you bought rr .... imo
good luck with the new which ever you choose

As stated before I'd get an older bike (F2 or F3) before buying a brand new bike. But since you seem to be pretty persistant I'd choose the F4i. It seems like more of a real world sportsbike with the slightly less aggresive position. I wouldn't be too concerned with the speed. The F4i will be fast enough, specially if it's your first bike. Besides later on down the road you can re-gear it making it almost as fast as the RR anyways.
The F4i has adjustable suspension. Take it to a shop, and have somebody, that knows what they are doing, dial it in for you.
The F4i is as fast as the RR up to 100mph, and is actually a fraction faster in the quarter mile. So, if you plan on going over 100 all the time, or only go to the track...get the RR. Otherwise ignore the peer pressure and get one of the best real world street bikes ever made.

i just picked up an 01 F4i and i have to say i love it. its amazing. the susp. has been dialed in and it handles like a dream for me. i would recommend it for anyone
i like the older 01-02 better then the 05's though not a big fan of the banana seat.

Thanks for the replies. I do love the f4i but i think im gonna go with an 01 or so f4i. I rather drop an older one than a brank new one. SBF...sportbikesforum.com also said that almost everyone drops there bike...even with an msf course taken which i am going to. Idk though, i do love gixxers too! lol
Dude, get an older bike for $2-3k. That's what I'm doing, because this will be my first sport bike. I've had cruisers and dirt bikes before, but even so, I am taking precautions. So I am getting either an f2 or an f3. Since you don't have a lot of experience (I'm guessing?), get an older bike to learn on, then next year, get the RR or whatever you want. Listen to the guys here on this forum. They're really helpful and full of useful info. Good luck.
Well i wanna try to get a 2001 or so...But around here in oklahoma...i can get a 2001 f4i for around 4500 which is a good price cause they have low miles...and im sure i can talk the owners down. But i dont think im gonna buy a new one though. I cant wait till i have a bike. Im taking the msf course, then going to just ride slow, keep it below 6k and just drive around my neighborhood which has turns, straight aways and stop signs...and the speed limit is 25...so ill get some good practice there for the first 25 times or so i ride it! Thanks
p_nut is catching on fast.
thanks for the comments on the good help. most ppl here are very nice and do know a whole lot it would be good to listen to what they have to say!

Yeah, I don't want to end up like this guy:

"OK lets see... None of my family, friends, co-workers wanted me to get a bike. oh your going to kill yourself, your going to crash, typical things people say. But no I had to buy a bike and my first mistake I bought a new 04 636 for my first bike.
I managed to get 1400 miles before I crashed. In those miles I experienced head shake a couple of times. I have hit a bumps in the end of a corner, now that scared the *** out of me. Also accelerating onto a empty freeway shifting into 3rd at about 95mph which is most likely my fault for not being smoother...
now the fun part. I went for a ride Sunday Nov 20th 2004. great day just going to et breakfast at the parents. I was wearing my Helmet, Joe Rocket Jacket (none leather), my well padded Camel pack leather full length gloves, Levis, and my vans.
OK at a stop light in front in the left of the 2 lanes going my direction with a 1/2 mile empty straight. Light turns green. I accelerate at a moderate pace shifting about +/-12k into second, then 3rd was about +/- 10k putting me somewhere in the 90 to 100mph? right? well i shifted into 3rd hard enough to bring the front off the ground a little. Well it was enough to induce massive head shake. I tried to ride it out, but it just got worse. The bike started veering to the right lane and the 4' wide shoulder to a 6" curb to 3' of dirt, then a 6' cyclone fence and big redwoods lined the fence. This is what I'm looking at as I veer into the right lane, So instead of staying on for the ride i jumped off the back. ya I jumped off the back probably at 75mph. I remember tumbling violently then sliding into the curb ankles first, then continue to slide, tried to get up but still sliding and ate it again, then continued to slide on my back and saying to my self.. "Holy *** I'm still sliding don't get up wait till you stop" I slide for about 50' waiting to stop. I finally stopped 250' from when i first started to slide, skip, tumble according to police.
When I first stopped I was still in the right lane I looked down to see my right ankle hanging what seem to look like flesh and muscle. I still was able to pick myself up on my left leg and get over to the shoulder on some grass. I looked down and just saw blood spurting out of my right fibula and could see everything inside my ankle. My left ankle at this point was hurting worse which was funny since it was all together compared to the other. I was conscious during the whole thing.. from start till surgery. Had to sit in pain for 10min for ambulance, 15min for them to get me into the ambulance and 20min for the hospital ride in a bumpy *** ambulance. I told the EMT that Cadillac should make ambulances. I mean really the ride sucked. Then goes to say I have a piece of you bone in a paper towel that a bystander found on the side of the rode. lol I was like really... *** thats not good.. the police also said there was a fleshy trail of where i slide from my right leg dragging on the asphalt.
My helmet never hit the ground, my Jacket was slightly damaged, pads saved my shoulder, pack back took allot of abuse saved my back, Levis have holes all over, Gloves took abuse right in the wrist area on both gloves, Shoes might be bloody.
OK, so the final tally was 13 days in trauma, 12 days normal hospital room. Shattered right lowered Fibula (4 pieces), Fractured a lower Tabula in half, also missing 6 inches of nerve, 3 surgery's total for right leg. Left leg shattered fibula in pieces where it connects to ankle. Just one surgery for left leg. Its almost been 4 months since i have walked.... ***
The right lower leg will be amputated in march..... oh ya I'm gonna be Bionic ***'s
The left leg I should be able to weight bear in a week or so...
Kaiser insurance payed so far with out amputation $175,000....
Was getting a bike worth it? no, but *** it was fun
Will ride again? hell ya, but not for a while...."

it is all looks on this one i think. My bf works at a dealership and i didnt believe him when he said that they have the same motor in the 05 rr and 05 f4i. The difference is in the sprockets/gearing..... i have an 02 f4i (about 5 months now) .. its my first bike & i only weigh 115 lbs.. I have dropped it at the gas station yea, but other than that i have had no problems at all with having a 600 for my first bike. You just have to take ur time and respect the power.
edit: i am in love with the blk/tribal flames 600rr though, i would take that over my f4i as a SECOND bike anyday!!! (but i wouldnt as a first, bc you're bound to drop it eventually lol. (and i dont mean get hurt, just loose ur footing or something))

And probably get hurt.
I also saw a black/flame 600rr today at the Honda dealership (they just finished putting it together as I walked in). Needless to say, I had to go home to change my britches.

So you think if you got a 05 600RR you will hurt yourself, but not an older bike? I hate to break it to you, but a F3 is fast enough to kill you, just like ever other sport bike.
Have some self control, take the msf course, and ride as safe as possable, and that it wont matter what 600 you are on..
Now if you want an old bike, so when you drop it you dont cry, than okay, but dont buy an old bike cuz its not as fast ect. ect.

When did I say that I wouldn't hurt myself if I got an older bike? I know how powerful bikes are and I have respect for that. Hell, you can hurt yourself on a CR80 if you're not careful.

If you go to a dealer the bike will have a weight limit listed on it my first bike a DRZ-400 had a grose of 700 something and that was a light bike compared to a F4i. So if the DRZ could handle around 500 lbs on it the F4i should be no prob at all. buy you may want to avoid riding with buba on the back with you.
I too would sugest you getting a older bike. I will be willing to bet that you are going to get bored with the power and that you will drop the bike sooner or later. so why not buy an older GSXR 600, beat on it then go buy a 600RR or a F4i or whatever...
