Default alarm question

My dilemma is that i have lost my remote to my car. As of now i just disabled the stock alarm by removing the stock head unit and unplugging the green harnesses so that the alarm is inactive. I have a second remote that I got from the dealership when i purchased it used, however for whatever reason it was not programmed to the car. Currently I drive the car around and unlock it using the key, but it is becoming annoying since i am used to locking/unlocking it with the remote.
When i plug in the alarm unit located in the am/fm receiver ,the alarm becomes active again and is in the armed mode. Because it is armed I have no way of re-programming my other remote. When I brought the car to the dealer they said they would have to charge me to reprogram it. Is there anyone who knows how to disarm the alarm or reprogram the keyless entry remote while the system is armed?

My car is a honda civic EX 1997 with a completely stock alarm which i believe is made by alpine as far as i know.

There is one on the driverside. Remove the panel section that covers the fuse box. The panel has hooks that are on the bottom. On the right hand side where they hook in is where the valet switch is usually located. It is just above the hood release lever.

Still can not locate that valet switch, does anyone have an exact location of this switch on the 96-98 civics or have an alternative to reseting the alarm i tried disconeecting the battery for a minute or so and it still becomes armed once i plug those two green wires in.

IT all depends on the install. The valet switch could be on the brain. Do you know what type of alarm it is? You can get replacement remotes pretty cheap.

The alarm is completely stock, i believe is made by alpine, the only switch i see on the brain (located on the stock am/fm reciever) is a switch which says EX/LX or HX/DX, which i doubt would take care of my problem. I havent tried many different things because i live in an aparment complex and in order to mess with it the alarm starts to go off so id rather just see if someone knows exactly how to deal with this problem. BTW i do also have a spare remote but it is not programmed to the alarm, that is why i am trying to disarm it that way i can actually program the remote.
