spray brake cleaner all over it, it should take some **** off but not exactly like that. oem headers turn shitty after awhile anyways.

the red/brown stuff is welds....their not gonna come off....i know to weld and most of the time you can't clean it to well....

your best options is to try to polish it..

You want your header to look brand new? JDM ITR heatshield I tell you. CAC!

I scuffed my JDM itr header with a scotch scuff pad. Looks better but definitely not silver. It is still dark brown.

I'm not a fan of a heat shield anyway since I want my jdm itr header visible.

imma try that "simple green and scotch brite pads & WD-40" method from this thread https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1162886&page=1

I just dont like that rusty color coating on my header. Might as well make it look nice.

Wayne, I consider these birthday presents to myself

Very nice! I want mines like that.

What was his technique?

I'm still waiting to see pictures of that "scotch pad, simple green, wd-40" method when it turns to gold.

^^ ask and ye shall receive.......

Used Simple Green and Scotch Brite pads from Wally World......also used some rubber gloves cuz that stuff will eat your hands up . And after that get started scrubbing and keep on scrubbing

BEFORE

AFTER

Still need to work on it some more, but a huge difference so far

yes.....eventually it will go back to what it was like before......but i plan to have it powder coated to help prevent or slow the process down.

They won't powder coat exhaust parts because it won't withstand the heat usually

OH **** NICE!!!!!!!!!!

Thats the finish I want. I'm definitly gonna use the simple green and scotch pads method. After I install the header for the first time, wipe it down with wd-40 for a goldish finish.
