Default My turn to eat it...

Here's a link to the pictures:
http://groups.msn.com/herbhuan....msnw
(the last picture is of my friend's bike who went off-roading)

I lowsided in a turn at ButtonWillow yesterday (at Club Corner, for those of you who've been there). If not, here's a map:

I lowsided when the front end lost traction with the ground. After falling, I tried to kick the bike away from my body, only to have my foot stuck under the footpeg. The bike dragged me for a little bit, until I started flipping over laterally (possibly from an impact by a following rider). I smacked my feet and arms a couple times and ended up lying on the track.

Thankfully the paramedics came quick and were able to patch me up. Now I'm just waiting for the vicodin to kick in.

Oh ****! Glad you're not TOO banged up. What happened? How'd you lose the front end? What happened?

I went through the right hander a bit quicker than usual, but not faster than I was taking some of the other turns. I ended up going over some bumps that I had not noticed earlier. My front is set up pretty stiff, and the front wheel began to oscillate off and on the track-surface. At that point, the bike slid out from under me.

What really spooked me was that I don't think I could have done anything to save it. By the time I noticed the front was wonky, I was on the ground.

Awww man! I haven't taken my bike to the track yet but high speed ripples on the asphalt are what I'm afraid of. Once I was entering a swooping freeway onramp and there was uneven pavement and scared the bejesus outta me. Ever since then, I'm scared to go high speed curves. The bike doesn't look too bad. Good luck with the healing and rejuvinating process!

Holy *&%# that's insane. I'm glad you're ok, I didn't think, being Herb and all, you were capable of falling off your machine. Again, glad you're ok and hope you get back on the road soon. Put the feathers back on the Chicken and ride.

Glad to hear nothing serious happened to you, especially if you got dragged by the bike. Get well soon.... for meds!

BTW: Both you and your friend went down on the same track-day??? Must have been a VERY quiet ride home.

Thanks guys.

I sprained both ankles, my right knee and my right hand. Every where else just has bruises and I'm sore.

As for the bike, the front forks and swingarm are possibly bent. The wheels are a little scratched. Looks like it's time for the RC51 front end and Single-Sided Swingarm mod.

All Mota - I went to BW with a bunch of friends, and four of us crashed that day. My friend's bike had the most damage, but he was ok. Another went flying in her RS125, but she was able to ride again later on. And towards the end of the day, another friend went off-track on his Gix6.

Being the smartass I'll say you could probbaly set your forks up a bit softer next time... you don't really have to compromise acceleration/braking induced dive with today's cartridge forks, anyway. They can separate the high and low speed damping circuits so that you can pretty well accomodate high presusre loads and the different uneven pavement type of shocks. That said, I've got no-clue how to properly do it.

It's good to hear you're alright, though. Crashing's part of life, 'eh? Now go get some sympathy poon!

Major dental work? So now you've got platinum bling?

ASteele2 - I actually did turn them down the first time I went to BW. There was a guy out there setting up people's suspensions for $10, but I felt mine was already sorted. Perhaps the $10 would have made the difference.

Sympathy poon!
