Default JDM 4.7 FD and B16 Gears

Hey guys, i have a gsr tranny right now and im gonna be rebuilding my motor for jun3's and want to shorten my gearing up. My car is a daily driver but i mostly drag race with it. I was thinking of just putting b16 2nd and 3rd gears in my gsr trans along with a jdm 4.7 final drive. Will this be a good setup for jun 3's and 9k shifts? Will i be shifting into 5th in the 1/4mile? I want it to be short but not too short. Also does anyone knwo what it would cost to get the work done? Thanks

Do it.
It's one of the best 'bang fo yo buck' upgrades out there besides a cam upgrade. The gearing combo your choosing will work great too. you just need to find somone to slap it all togetha for ya, for a decent price.

You'll be shifting into 5th on the freeway.

You will be probably revving up 4th by the end of 1/4 mile. Ideally for a drag car you want to be as close as possible to the rev limit of your final gear so your setup is a great improvement. Besides if you run into any problems just get a bigger tire. I would start off with a 22" slick and go from there. Oh Jun3's are great cams too...

Question: what type of B16 trans did you pull the gears from? (hydro or Cable?) If hydro why not just swap out LSD and put 4.7 in the B16 Trans. Much easier to do.

i know....maybe i shoulda said b16 with itr lsd and ls 5th. either way, same results. its probably cheaper to get an ITR tranny than to get a b16 tranny then add an itr lsd

itr lsd's break. if your going to open up the box you might as well either weld up the stock lsd(cheap way out) or get a kaaz lsd. Also if your drag racing this car i don't see why you would want a ls 5th gear. Keep them all close thats the best combo. If your making alot of HP and are revving out just get a taller tire.
