Default getting cams TDC help

ok i know of 2 ways to get the cams tdc 1 is using a 5mm pin throught the camshaft holder plate that goes into the camshaft, other way is to go by the marks on the camgears. My question is should both line up cause if i use the 5 mm pin to get them tdc my intake cam is off a tooth when i look at the camgear. So which method should i use. My head is jdm type-r w/ stock cams if that helps. THX

Use the 5mm pins. It's slightly off but not big enough to matter if you put the timing belt on in the right order. Crank, Tensioner, Waterpump, Exhaust Cam and them Intake Cam... rotate the crank 2 times and it should all line up.
