F20B Accord Type-R Swap Completed
We just got it done over the weekend in time for a local car show.
in 2 weeks time we did the swap and also got the car ready for and painted.
Pics will be up in the morn:
As always here is a little rundown of what went on.
We started with a 1994 Teg and were trying to figure out what swap to do..........and the idea came up of the F20b engine because it hasnt really been done, while doing a little research on what was needed.........nothing was comming up all that well we decided to just jump into it.
MOUNTS
We used our choice of H22 mount kit into teg.
-we had to get a motor mount bracket (bolts to engine) from an h22. other than that it dropped in.......
PS/AC/ALT
- We opted not to have PS because we wanted to keep the factory look of the F20
* but if wanted the newer Lude pump-brackets would work
- custom fuel line
-alternator was used from F20 and we just did a little repinning
-AC compressor was used from F20 with custom fabed lines, and we had them crimped together by a hydro shop *******yes we do have AC******
DRIVE
Axles we used the older accord mid-shaft and 93 integra ABS axles
WIRING
-used the facory integra harness with mods
-extensions were made and converted the obd2 sensors into obd1 sensors
- no resistor box was required for injectors
- eliminated EGR and other sensors and used one of our chipped P28 h22 progs
- had to wire in the 3 wire IAC
- rewired injector harness to OBD2
-Prelude OBD1 dist was used instead of the F20 to make it easier
Draw backs from swap we learned:
- the injectors are alot diff than the normal honda
-there are some parts not in the US for the motor.
-if the IAC goes bad, good luck on finding anotherone...............
-alot more parts are required over doing a H22swap
-no info on the engine around
-wire colors of the F20 are diff than any other honda, so there is alot of testing that is needed to be done
++ about the swap:
-not a popular swap and really hasnt been done
-we did it
-high reving motor
-feels great
-has a diff sound other than any other honda
-attracts attention
*******there were a few things left out that will be mentioned at a later time after the pics are posted ********

What makes it so different? As far as feel and sound?
the sound has a diff tone than H-series and B-series........
and the feel is not really diff, it feels nice though a nice TQ'y motor that you can bring up to 9k rpm is a little diff than other swaps

displacement is better, higher comp, and like maybe shy off couple =tq from the h22.
oh and its non frm sleeving.
i really wanted to swap this motor in but i opted for the h22. gj guys. i recently just saw another teg on ht with the same swap in it. and my buddies also working on this swap as we speak.
