state farm people...
how much are you guys paying? this question is mostly for people in southern cali. i remember reading that some of you guys that are around my age (22) are only paying around 300-500 bucks annually for full coverage. i have a perfect record, have taken the msf course, been driving for 6 years, riding for 1.5 years, yet my state farm agent quoted me $3,260 for full coverage with 15k/100k/50k and a $500 deductible. minimal liability coverage was $950 annually. i also have my car insured through them. those quotes are ridiculous, all the other insurance companies wanted around $2,000-2,500 which i thought was crazy enough, i expected state farm to be MUCH cheaper.
let me know if there's anything i might need to explain to my state farm agent to get the low rates some of you lucky bastards have.
i have a 03 yzf600r btw, i remember one of you cbr600rr people were 21 yrs old in orange and only paid like $400 for full coverage

I called state farm last week for an 05 gsxr600k5. They quoted me $850 for 6 months with full coverage and $500 deductible as well. I'm 21 and have a clean record. Have my car insured through another company. Delirious there must of been something that made your total premium go up that high.
i'm so pissed... i expected to get some awesome rates, last thing i expected was to get a quote higher than everyone else. i was insured with mcgraw but that expired last week so i haven't really been able to ride since then
my agent is supposed to call me back but if the rates remain the same, it looks like i'm gonna have to go through mcgraw again with liability only.

I think your quote is high because you have only been riding for 1.5 years. Call the same company give bogus info EXCEPT say that you have been riding for 9 years, I bet it will be lower. I got a quote from State Farm for $700 for my RC, but they had to look at the bike before insuring it and pics would not do. The guy suggusted I ride it down to him so he can look at it. I asked "so you want me to ride my bike down to your office with no insurance??????". I could not ride the bike because I was getting the rear tire replaced ( it was in the back of my truck) and he could not come to my house either. Needless to say I did not go with them cuzz I needed insurance that day.
I called AAA the same day for a quote for $539 for full coverage for my RC, because she could not see my bike that day she gave me liability that day, BUT she told me that the next morning she could stop by my house and once she looked at the bike I had full coverage on my plan. BTW I am only 25.....

Even if nobody else would be using your vehicles? That's lame. I told State Farm and AAA that I would be the only one operating my bike, so they did not ask to much info about anyone else.

i can never get insurance from state farm because of a past accident with one of their adjusters. they quoted me 800/year with 500 deduct then suddenly said they couldn't do it at all when i went in to sign paperwork and such.

I pay $800/yr for liability/comprehensive, $500 dec., and 30/60 coverage. It all depends on your location
Called Farmers for a quote and my old agent said dont even bother because it'll be up the ***. Also called all state (which goes through another company for bike insurance), they were cheaper for liability but didnt offer comprehensive so I stuck with state farm

State Farm seems to be ALWAYS WAY CHEAPER then anyone else. BUT (and it's a big one) they usually only like to insure people who at least fall into the 25+ crowd, if you're married even better and have a squeaky clean record. I mean perfect. They only allow one mishap. It's one ticket or one at fault accident. Two tickets, two accidents or one and one you are done. So one every three years. I mean it's not hard to maintain if you think about it, but I went five years with none, but hit a deer twice in a 10 month period. See ya.
A buddy of mine at work is 28, married, only been riding 2-3 years and he pays less then $400 a year for full coverage on an '04 GSXR750.

i tried bike-line, they quoted me close to $2,200. haven't tried allstate yet.
regarding my riding experience, yeah i know 1.5 years is nothing, but i remember someone on here said they only had their permit, 1 ticket, 21 years old or something, 2003-2004 cbr600rr, and his insurance was only like $400.
sigh... my agent called me back and said that the quote he gave me was correct
his explanation for my high rate was because i have a "nice bike" haha... what about all you bastards that have r6, 600rr, rc51, etc. i explained to him its really just a basic sportbike and probably only worth a little more than 4 grand. there's no way in hell i'm going to pay for insurance that is close to the value of the actual bike EACH YEAR. at this rate, i could pay off an R1 in 3-4 years with the savings on insurance on the yzf600r

Progressive here, 21, 93 kaw, $140 year for liability, plus $66 for compreshensive, plus $225 for full coverage or soo. not bad, but with a bike that old, its just by savin my deductable and the payment for that year i could probobly replace almost all *obviously unlses i totalled it*
i thought about adding comprehensive just for theft purposes...

They don't need to ask because they pull the driving reports for everyone in the house anyway. I was told I couldn't even get coverage because my dad who doesn't even have a motorcycle license had been in three accidents.

doesn't state farm not insure motorcycles unless you have a car insured through them?
i'm thinking that might be the reason why my rates are so high, i'm away for college so i gave him my apt address instead of my mom's address. but i can't imagine it making THAT much of a difference...
anyway, i gave my old insurance company a call and my rates have gone down... last year it was $250 but now its only $109.80 annually for liability
however, they said they can't provide me with full coverage because of the "type of motorcycle i ride" and i'm under 30.

You may have good luck with that, you may not. I tried three different brokers in my area and none of the small local or regional ins groups they dealt with could go lower then what the big guys (Progressive, Geico, All Sate, Nationwide, State Farm etc...) would go.

Isn't the usual coverage 15/30??? I don't know how much this affects the premium, but it should lower it a bit.
With State Farm, my GF was paying somewhere in the ballpark of $800-900 annually on her brand new 2003 R6, full coverage. She was only 21 and just got her M1 license. When I tried getting a quote for myself from the same State Farm broker (but different agent), they quoted me somewhere around $1800 annually. This was last year with my 600RR. I was 24, with a C class for 8 years, and a M1 for 3 years. Perfect driving record. I was stunned. I don't know how my GF got her policy for cheap (flirting wasn't the reason because her agent was a girl... or mabye it did and I just don't know about it
). I thought mabye they messed up on her policy and that she would get focked in the end if something did happen. Well, she crashed her bike last year and totaled it. They took care of everything. And in a very timely manner (didn't try to jerk her around.... even paid for her helmet!).
Check out Farmers, thier rates have always been good for me. They have gone up a bit (just a little) since I first insured with them (I've been on and off with different bikes), but still the lowest I've found. I've recommended alot of my friends to them (one friend got quoted 25k a year from another company!!!), and they all agree. I'm currently going thru a claim with them right now, and so far, they've been great. Hit me up if you want my agent's name and number.

I think your rate also has to deal with the bike you are riding. If I am not mistaken wasnt the r6 and r1 on the insurance top list for stolen/wrecked bikes?
I hear you about insurance being insane. When I went in to sate farm at first with my bike I was 18. they quoted me 4500 annually on the f3. That is with a clean record. I haven't inquired again as I am now over the 25 yr old mark but I tell you what I did not see a big price break once I hit 25.
Good luck.
