i have a 89 crx with a d16y8 motor and the second and third gear is starting to grind and i dont know what kind of tranny i have but it is not a hydraulic tranny.where should i look to see what kind of tranny i have(what year and make it is out of)
Well if its not hydraulic that limits it to '91 and older. Since its a D series motor, that eliminates any B-series transmission. Also, there is a serial number/code on the side of the transmission (I think its close to the block stamp) and if you tell us that number, we will tell you what you have.
Or you can just drive the car and to see if you have an Si transmission you will be at 7200rpm in 2nd gear at 60 mph, and at 7200rpm in 3rd gear at 91 mph. Anything taller, it is not a '88-'91 Si transmission.
