Default cleaning a vacume inlet (intake mani) +bonus Q's

i'm trying to chase down what's causing the richness on my a6, so i made sure all the lines and map it's self is holding a vacume (tb inlet allows air, but v slowly). then tried running a small paper clip into the inlets (but didn't feel any obstructions)..this of couse didn't help.

so i'm thinking maybe squirt some carb cleaner into a bit of hose and shoot it into the intake w/ an airblower. (maybe repeat several times) anyone ever done this or heard of this helping out, i ask this cause the ecu is so dependendent on this sensors output.

2 add on Q's
-anyone got a link on how to clean the (iac/egr whatevah it's called) on the intake mani
-could a too cool thermostat cause the ecu to think the car is still warming (or requires mild choke)

HT

Yes - too cool a thermostat will not let the ECU get into closed loop operation because it still thinks the engine is below 180*F.

To clean the IACV - remove it and shoot carb cleaner through it till it runs clear.
