Default Do i really need titanium valve spring retainers...?

how are you guys doing tonight? i have quick question... i will be putting a stage 1 skunk2 cams and valve springs... but i dont have titanium retainers... do i really need retainers... and what can possibly happen if i dont put them in? thanks for your time and have a good night~

you dont need them. Don't really know why your going with different valve springs with such a mild cams.

i would get them just incase
titanium retains are stronger
the worst that can happen is the retainer can break and drap a valve and then blowing like motor

your right. They are definately stronger but they also wear out significatnly faster than factory retainers.

what are you plans na or turbo how much boost?

it is always recommended to use aftermarket springs and retainers with aftermarket cams but you don't really have to. Giving us more info on your plans will help.

I said use the titanium retainers will be worth it my 02

How high are you going to rev?

I made power to 9k on my Stage 1s back in the day, but I limited it to 8700 so I could use stock retainers. I was getting a bit nervous after seeing messed up motors from a simple ti retainer failure.

NA gsr bottom and B16c or something... with b16something pistons basically poor mans type R... 11.2 compression ratio... and i wont be going over 8500RPM... i heard bad things about TI retainers... last about 30000.... i dont know about that one guyz... thanks for help and good day.
